Philadelphia Orchestra to Perform in Mongolia

The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform in Mongolia for the first time in June, 2017. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who is personally interested in Mongolia, is scheduled to be the conductor when the Philadelphia Orchestra performs in Ulaanbaatar net year.

Overhaul of Mongolia’s Postal and Address System

Mongolia’s postal system is scheduled to undergo dramatic reform. The Mongolian government has partnered with What3Words, a British technical startup company, to address the country’s postal code challenges. A unique three word marker will be used to designate plots of land and should allow for highly efficient navigation throughout the country.

Mongolia Praised as ‘Oasis of Democracy’ by U.S. Secretary of State

On June 5, 2016 U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry praised Mongolia for its commitment to democracy. Kerry made the remarks during a brief visit to Mongolia while en route to China.

A genetic study presents the sequence of a Mongolian male genome. Since genes traceable to the Mongol conquests of the 13th century are widespread throughout Eurasia this study could have wide applicable uses for researchers in the medical field.
